Takeshi was an omakase sushi bar in the heart of SoHo, NYC. Chef Takeshi Sato’s career in sushi is quite the paradox, first started in Japan 25 years ago as path to NYC. What began as a means to remain in America to pursue a dream in rock n’ roll and professional boxing became a lifelong dedication to the art of sushi-making.

As a result, the entire brand took a turn from traditional and foreign—quasiexotic—iconography to return to the gritty, brusque character of New York City. To put it simply: less traditional Japanese, more New York hustle, making high-end sushi cuisine more approachable and colloquial.
